Condolences & Tributes

We encourage you to share any memorable photos or stories about Lloyd. All tributes placed on and purchased through this memorial website will remain on in perpetuity for future generations.

I left Lloyd a voice message only to learn a few days later of his passing. It left me with great sadness. I felt honoured to have known Lloyd as a business partner and a friend. I have many fond memories of working and golfing with Lloyd and other colleagues during my years with Cridland and Associates. I rarely saw him angry and more often than not he found a humorous side of most situations. I am going to miss guidance, kindness and laugh. My deepest condolences go to the Cridland family and his close friends. I look forward to sharing another sleeve of ale with him to his two.

On behalf of the members and staff of the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association, I want to express our sincerest condolences to the entire Cridland family.

Lloyd was very proud of the land surveying profession and we are thankful for everything he gave to the profession.

We will make a donation to the JH Holloway Scholarship Foundation in Lloyd's memory to provide scholarships to future land surveyors.

It was coincidental that I read of Lloyd's death and it has, of course, left me sad.
My favorite cousins were Lloyd and Ken. We had a lot of fun together and, as a city boy, I learned a few things from my farm boy cousins. I remember working one summer in Pincher with Lloyd; Emma Craig, a Pincher legend to my father, told me she had seen him driving too fast on the Waterton highway and I should talk to him.
Lloyd was an easy guy to be friends with. I knew that personally and over the years ran into people who knew him and expressed nothing but good fortune to know him and even work for him.
Many will miss you Lloyd.

Dear Kelly and family, Ken and Erna,
We were very saddened to hear about Lloyd. Although we haven't been in touch, except for your visit to Victoria that we treasure when Kurtis was a baby, Lloyd was a very big part of our school and university days, being friend, roommate and such a fun-loving part of the group. He was the first one to purchase a hand-held calculator. He was the best cook in the house and organized us all for grocery shopping. He brought home the most interesting folks he'd met on his travels as he was always open to new people and so trustworthy. He was the most sensible of an often unruly group. To us he was "Beaker", a nickname from a 1960's cartoon, Supercar. We are so impressed by all his accomplishments and that he had some time to enjoy travel, retirement and his grandchildren. We regret our lack of contact with Beaker and he will be missed.
