Reinhold Lothammer of Eatonia, loving husband of Betty Bernice Lothammer, passed away at home on December 14, 2017 at the age of 90 years.
Reinhold was born in Eatonia, Saskatchewan to Adolph and Carolina Lothammer and is the second child of three. The family was raised on the farm in the Stoney Vista region.
Reinhold's first job was working in a logging camp north of Edison, Alberta where he worked in the kitchen. From there he worked in a logging camp at Vernon, British Columbia where he peeled and skidded logs for the telephone poles. In the spring of 1947, he moved back to Saskatchewan where he was employed by the Baxter Brothers at Fairmount. He started working with the R.M. of Newcombe at Glidden in the fall of 1949 as a patrol operator.
On November 3, 1951 Reinhold Lothammer and Betty Dobb were married. They started their married life in Glidden while he continued to work for the R.M. They then purchased their first piece of land in the R.M. Of Newcombe. In 1966, dad and mom started full time farming at Eatonia.
In October 1952, Reinhold and Betty welcomed their oldest son, Don, into their lives. He was followed by their second, Brian, who was born 18 months later in the spring of 1954. Two years later, in 1956, they welcomed their first daughter to the family, Heather, and in June of 1959 they completed their family with their youngest son, Daryl. All were born while living in Glidden and started school there. Dad enjoyed time spent at the skating rink and loved to play and watch curling.
Reinhold is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Heather (Kim); and sons, Daryl (Shannon), Brian (Heather), and Don (Donna). Reinhold and Betty have fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
