Alma "Ike" Ellsworth Bishop, beloved husband of Florence Bishop of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Ike also leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Rex (Linda), Lynn (Stacy), Mark, Donald and Kevin (Corilee); his son-in-law, Glen Ross; 26 grandchildren; 75 great grandchildren; two brothers, Stan (Ardene) and Ed (Janice); brother and sisters-in-law, Geri (Ed) Lanz, Larry (Tammy) Lippert and Mary Lippert and their families. Ike was predeceased by his daughter, Coleen Ross; his step-daughter, Marnys Kapeller; one grandchild, Alexander Bishop; his parents, Harry and Edna Bishop; one brother, Russell (Roma); one sister, Arlene (Dave) Hofer; brother-in-law, LaVern Lippert; and the mother of his children, Vila Bishop. Ike farmed in Spring Coulee, Alberta from 1946 until 1970. He then took a management position with Lake Bonavista Community Centre in Calgary until 1974. Ike was then hired as manager for Laidlaw Waste, Yellow Cab and Yellowbird Msg, also in Calgary until 1978. He then relocated to Red Deer where he took a management position with Laidlaw Waste and City Cab. Ike decided to retire in 1991. In 1996, Ike and Florence moved to Medicine Hat where they have continued to live. Ike was a very generous man. He was also a man of integrity and honesty. He loved to tell stories and will be missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to thank Home Care for these many years of support; when they left each day, Ike always told them to "Drive Careful".
